Wow, we have had a lot of snow ! It's been snowing all day again today, so the blowing the DH did this morning has another 2 or 3 inch covering. Luckily he took the truck again today, so should just breeze up the driveway. Still has 2 bales of hay on the back too, so the traction should be great. It does mean that I'm not able to leave the farm, unless I wish to risk driving the silver Honda. Not a happy car that one.
Had the house energy audited today, and should receive the report shortly. Thank you Eric. The back-up heat exchanger thingy has gone on our furnace, so methinks a new furnace is a need this year. I've suspected that since we've been on the farm, the furnace is 30 years old ! Have 3 gas leaks in the basement, one from the drier, and 2 around the geyser, one switch needs replacing. Don't know how big a job that is going to be to fix, maybe we should move to the instant water heaters. But, cost-wise they will take 8 years to start showing savings, so maybe that's not the way to go yet until they become more reasonably priced. Good incentive to install the wood add-on furnace, and do the water connections so that we get hot water as a by-product.
On the farm, no babies yet. Star is due to calve within the next 3 weeks hopefully. I've a few enquiries for herd-shares, so come on girl, pop that baby out already. No lambs yet either, and hopefully Anni has her 2nd litter of puppies around Valentines Day. Can't see or feel that she's preggers, so that is currently a big hope too.
Egg production is ramping up. Found 10 eggs today. Yesterday there was a dead chicken in the coop, didn't look as if she'd been attacked, and the others didn't eat at her either.
Well, that's all for now, I'm going to find something to eat, and need to warm up a little. The lounge is freezing and I've spent most of the day in here.
