Busy day for me. Went to get a new round bale feeder, which was a bit of a drive, Nashville, MI. Stopped at Mooville to get some cream for Teri, but they don't make cream. They stock another companies cream, but it's also ultra-pasturised :(. They did have a new product, pasturised full cream milk which isn't homoginised. I bought some to try.
Stopped at the Antique Mall in Lake Odessa, it's huge, 3 stories. And I didn't really look through everything as Mike called he was home for me to collect hay.
I couldn't hear him very well, and was expecting Pam to come over so she could go with to talk to him about hay for her.
She helped me take the bale feeder off the back of the truck, and off we went to Mikes'. Met her sister Brenda, and back at the farm we all enjoyed seeing Shaw.
We have this chicken that stays in the garage, and although I enjoy the eggs, her huge, smelly, yucky, poops all over the garage, not so much. So I caught her, and re-located her to the lower barn, with Star and Shaw. Dumped her in the lower part in the straw, but she just wanted to climb through the gate into the milk parlour. Put her on the chair where chickens lay eggs in the Summer. She nestled into the straw on the chair, and I went back upstairs after bringing more water for Star. At least she's eating and drinking now, still putting molassas in her water and gave her a penicillin shot this morning, but she still has a hard quarter.
Did the watering of the cows, closed up the chickens, the ducks and geese. Parked the buggy back in the garage, and there was a red chicken nestled where I usually find the daily egg. Another chicken ? Caught her and also took her down the ladder into the lower barn, and there was no chicken on the chair. That sneaky chicken had high-tailed it back to the garage !
Star was lying down, so I chivvied her up, and threatening her with a stick, eventually got her up into the milking parlour, and after more threats into the stall. Tied her up, went to get hot water, cleaned her off, attached the milking machine. She's a very unhappy cow. She pooped the 3rd time while I was busy at her back end, and although it missed me, landed on the lines ! She danced, and kicked, and moaned, a real performance. Couldn't get anything out if that back teat. Tried by hand after holding a warm cloth against her udder, massaging cream with aromatheraphy oils into her, a little squirt and then much more dancing and kicking. Got another tube of meds up it. If it's not working by tomorrow, will have to call the vet.
Herbie came home early and I was dealing with Star in the cold barn. Sucks. Got inside after 9pm. Just remembered, didn't get to call my dad back either.
Once again I'm exhausted. Good night.
