Miracles never cease :). Last night I cleaned out the fridge. Was rather scary, sort of like Frankensteins' laboratory.
Today I ventured out in Noddy. Had to be at the Credit Union before it closed at 1pm with the signed papers to open a new account and a copy of both drivers' licenses. The roads were mostly clear of snow and ice, but our driveway was a challenge. I did what I tell all our herdshare owners to do - take it at a fairly good clip and don't slow for anything. Fortunately Rosco doesn't bark at me and try and stop me. Noddy was a champ, an exclamation point in a triangle flashed on my dashboard, but he did it, without stranding me in a ditch, or slipping back down. But then I must confess, I've been practicing my snow-driving in the buggy after each delivery of water. But, I suppose it's not the same, the buggy has 4WD and the back yard is flat.
When going out to water today I drove over one of my chickens. Damn birds. They always flock me when I'm outside. Only went over her with one wheel, and there was lots of snow and slush. She moved, but slowly, which was an open invite to all the roosters ! So I went and rescued her, scooped her up and put her in a roosting box in the chicken house. She promptly walked over to another one. Hope she wasn't hurt too badly.
Made Herbie fish and chips for lunch with salad. Peeled and hand cut a bowl of Yukon gold potatoes and then popped half into the deep fryer. Cooked it about halfway, then drained them and put on a paper towel, and cooked the second lot. Made a batter for the tilapia and fried it, and then cut up salad ingredients. I'm still detoxing, so didn't try any and Herbie had gone to bed before I came in from milking and watering, so don't know if it turned out well.
Alice and Dave collected Saturdays' milk, got 2 ½ gallons from Dolly. Daisy Mays' milk went straight to the dogs again as there was a little blood in it from her previously snow-bitten teat. Don't think she's letting Eleanor nurse that quarter and I have to break the scab every day to empty the milk.
