It is so muggy that I'm dripping while milking. Have one of the barmop cloths just for me. Came up after todays' milking, and had a shower before going to fetch a ton of grain for the poultry and milk cows, my clothes were sopping wet.
Then the truck doesn't have air-conditioning either. Anni was drooling, so I drove with the windows open. Maybe I should insure the van seeing as it's our only car with a working air conditioner.
Early evening I went out and put an electric fence up between the veggie part and grain part of my garden, so that the horses and bulls are restricted to the bottom part and I can plant my garden. Decided to plant potatoes in the hay ring that I couldn't spread with the tractor. Also plan on getting into the berry garden. Pick strawberries and weedy wack all the unwanteds, mulch the asparagus, blueberries and elderberries, add another strand for the grapes and plant the new blueberries and lavender.
Betsi, my Tuesday herdshare owner, brought me a part of her Clivia. Not sure what colour as I wasn't home when she left it, and also not sure if I can plant it outside. This is my 2nd South African plant after the Hen and Chicks (which Americans call a Spider Plant).
Cooked some lamb shanks for lupper. Delicious :). Went well with a baked potato slathered with butter and sour cream and ½ an avo with balsamic vinegar.
Increased the price of my eggs to $3 / dozen today. Checked pricing at WalMart yesterday, their "normal" eggs are now $2.98 while their cage free are over $5.
Still take a 2nd look every time I pass the diningroom. It's so neat and tidy :). Now just have the study and the basement to sort out and the house will be as it should be. Want to re-organise the family room, moving the desk and computer there, and bringing the piano down from the study. Also need to get stuck into my walk-in cupboard and scrape the popcorn stuff off the walls and ceiling. Then I can re-install the shelving and move my clothes back from the walk-through cupboard between the 2 guest bedrooms.
The garage needs attention, the milking parlour needs to be disinfected again as it's getting mouldy, again, with the mugginess, and the shed needs a good sorting and cleaning out. The chicken house too, but with the mama goose laying on eggs inside I'm careful to only go in once a day to collect chicken eggs.
Am sort of sure in my head how to run the fencing to get the bulls and horses to a fresh pasture without interacting with the cows, although I'm still working on how I can put Gabriel in with Little Red and Seasaidh, without Immanuelle, and Parrot in with Dolly and Doofus. Need to think of a new name for him. Either Ribs or Taxes ? Hmmm. Then in 3 months, to switch to Parrot and Daisy May, without Eleanor. Seriously thinking of taking the horses to auction. And Big Red to butcher. It's so nice to have some lamb in the freezer, would be great to add beef again.
