Todays' high was 8 degrees up from -4 over night. Only left the farm to fill the truck and re-fill one of the diesel containers for the Gila monster.
DH blew the driveway, the back yard and between the house and shed. I fed the sheep, all the adults seem to eat alfalfa from my hand, the youngsters are arill wary. He fed the dogs and cats and the poultry, I helped him with giving a fresh bale to the cattle, then I finished watering them. Got back inside after 4pm. So much for a day spent cuddling with my hubby :(. Maybe tomorrow.
Baked something called a Dutch Baby in a cast iron frying pan this afternoon. One of the FB groups I'm part of, was racing about it, so I tried it. All went well until I tried to take it out the oven. The dishtowel slipped and I burnt my hand on the hot cast iron pan. Dropped it back onto the opened oven door. Picked it up, scooped the Dutch Baby back into it, but it had collapsed completely :(. Thought it was a little salty, so will play with the recipe I tried. DH wanted some cinnamon on it, was quite OK with some fake maple syrup. Broke off a piece of aloe vera growing on the kitchen windowsill, grown especially for burns, and spread it on my hand and finger after holding it under cold water. Surprising how well it works. Didn't put some on my pinkie straight away, and it's formed a little blister, but the mark below my thumb is just a shiny line.
It's expected to warm up later this week, but going to be lots of snow to melt.
