Had a guy come and quote to lift our sagging concrete. According to the website Herbie saw, it was about 1/2 the cost of replacing the concrete, and had virtually no setting time and could be driven on nearly straight away. $6,500 - the same as the quote I received 5 years ago to replace the concrete. I know due to EPA regulations concrete prices have risen, so even taking a 25% increase, by going the replacement concrete route, at least I could put a drain in the garage and increase the pad size to cover the side door of the shed. And if we do most of the work ourselves, hiring the equipment needed, it should be way down.
Have my Parmesan cheese in the press, have high hopes for this one, although the year wait to taste is going to be trying. If I can make a hard cheese every few days, next year we'll be in the cheese, if, of course, they turn out well. At the rate we go through cheese, and the huge quantities of milk I get daily that doesn't have a home, this should be a no-brainer. Just the 3-continuous hours I need to actually make one is not always as easy.
And then the haybines' bottom chain came off. I tried to put it back, but nope, ain't strong enough to pull the lever with the huge spring. So trundled back to the house to tell Herbie. Would have to wait until tomorrow as it was already after 7pm and he was late already getting up to bed. So I texted Jackie to find out when she was planning to go cherry picking. Opening day to the small, family owned orchard she'd introduced me to last year is tomorrow. Was also chatting to Angie about going black raspberry picking on our farm, and asked if she wanted to go cherry picking with Jackie and I. Of course, but she didn't want to impose. I asked Jackie if she'd mind Angie coming too, of course not. So made arrangements to meet Jackie at her house at 9am, which she thought may not leave her enough time to pack all the things she needed to take to their new Lake House, so, wheee, I didn't have to get up early, 10am it was.
