Been on a soup making thing ! The cheesy potato with bacon was good, so yesterday I made a spicy tomato soup from a recipe from The Cordon Bleu Cooking School I went to years ago in South Africa. Thanks to Teri for her home grown tomatoes :). Made some changes - don't I always :). Added some chili garlic sauce, and a whole slew of herbs and spices. Unfortunately Herbie didn't appreciate the sago in it. He said he doesn't eat "fish-eyes" ! Managed ½ a bowl before he gave up and heated the last bowl of cheesy potato. I sieved the tomato soup and fed all the tapioca to the chickens. They gobbled it up. Think I'll try Mulligatwany next. Herbie hasn't ever had that, although he knows of it from the Soup Nazi on Seinfeld, and it's one of my favourites, but I've never made it before.
Third day Dolly is spending the night away from the others. She doesn't want to come out the pasture at night, I have to chase / pull / entice / threaten her. On the horses, Levi is the lead horse, the other 2 give him a clear berth. I have difficulty in giving Missy and Max treats with him around, especially to Max. Gabriel is not doing great. I think he has an infection as his horns are hot and red. Will call the vet tomorrow. Will need to catch him in the horse trailer. Would like to get Daisy May into the lower barn so she can be pregnancy checked too, but she doesn't have a collar on either, and she's not tame and doesn't trust me. Al least it should be easy to get blood from the sheep. A little grain is all they should need.
Expected to possibly still rain tonight after a bit of rain on and off all afternoon but then should be clear and sunny for the next 4 days. Maybe we can get the balance of the hay cut, dried and baled. Please God.
I've changed my routine the past 3 days too, so bedtime for me, goodnight.
