Think it was a good year. Started horribly, losing Stars' boy calf, our taxes were fraudulently filed and we had to wait 6 months to get our tax refund, meaning we paid our property taxes late and were penalised, but, it got better.
We put up 4 cuttings of hay, Anni had a litter of puppies, sold our first 1/2 Scottish Highland beef, although we were screwed over on the pricing, I found a great deal on 80 x 850 lbs round bales of first cutting hay, for feeding our cows and horses through the Winter, the furnace works beautifully, our marriage is better, we made new friends, Angie and John, Angel, and had good times with longer time friends, Jackie and Gary, Teri. Reconnected with some from a previous life, on FB, Leanne and Leza, Elizabeth, Stephen, Denise and Dorian, and made new friends, Denise, Laura.
My dad remarried a lovely woman, Claire, and I went down to TN for the wedding in August so visited with my sister Tanya, who came up from California :). They came up in June, Claire and I share a birthday and my dad gave us manicures and pedicures as a joint birthday gift. They'll be visiting again around the same time this next year, but this time they'll share one guest room as they're now married :). Good to see them both so happy.
We saw more of Herbies' youngest daughter Elizabeth than we had in previous years, and visited with his oldest, Nanette, meeting his first granddaughter, Dakota, whom he calls Zoë as that's what Nanette originally told him they were naming her, and played with his grandson, Chad who is now already 4.
Visited his other family on the East side of the State a few times, and had Petey, her 2 girls Alison and Hailey and her boyfriend, now fiancè, Bobby spend an afternoon here.
Met some of my mothers' cousins for the first time, James, his wife Susan up from North Carolina, and his sister, Thora, on her first visit to America from South Africa. They stayed a few days, helped process the mielies for canning, and enjoyed a good roast leg of lamb on their last night. They brought me some South African goodies, including custard powder, chocolates and peppermints, and a beautiful blue glass vase. They'll be coming again in this next year, can't wait :). Nice learning about family I never knew about. And people who actually knew my mother.
I went hunting for the first time, didn't get to shoot anything, but, maybe next time. Helped process a deer and canned a whole lot of it, and successfully made biltong with some, even sent some biltong to family, James and Susan, and Tanya.
Still praying for healing for some friends and family with cancer, Joan, Rob and Bob. And that Herbies' knee heals so he isn't in so much pain.
Herbies' child support payments end this coming June, so maybe he'll get to spend some more time on the farm instead of working all hours.
Didn't really get a garden in, and only got to make one lot of black raspberry jam, but we pressed apples for cider, so I have jugs of apple cider vinegar brewing away. May 2016 be a great gardening year. And may the weather be great for hay.
Feeling very blessed that we had such a great year.
Wishing everyone a Happy New Year, may God smile upon you, like he has on us :).
