Herbie didn't have to go to work today, so was planning on making a 3-point hitch attachment for the 210 gallon water tank we have so that we could water the vegetable garden with it this year if necessary. I was going to process the 4 chickens I'd isolated on Saturday. As he drove the buggy, a strut (or something) in the front broke, so he has spent the day fixing it, and I processed the chickens. Next time I think I'll do a photo shoot and post it, from live to vacuum packed for the freezer.
When I came to the house to sharpen my knife, I saw Izzy had something white in her mouth. On closer inspection, it was foam, and she was chewing and chewing. I poked my finger in her mouth but couldn't feel anything, it looked as if she had something stuck in her throat. Inside, looking up on the internet, it could be serious and she could die. Force fed her bicarb, and a little while later the Bounce Back liquid. Hope she makes it, it's going to be a long night force feeding her every 3 hours. Thinking about it, I didn't see her pee today. Maybe she drank too much too quickly first thing this morning, or maybe she ate something in the field, I don't know.
Herbie fixed the buggy, I processed 4 chickens and caught another 4 for processing on Wednesday. Didn't get the fruit and nut trees planted, nor the asparagus or rhubarb. Manyana.
It's a beautiful evening, maybe Herbie and I will go sit in the back field now now.
