We have goslings :). Saw 4 yellow and 1 gray little ones yesterday morning. Now have the 3 gray geese sitting in the window well. Tried to see if any more had hatched, but the 3 geese don't leave much room to see any :(. But the ganders are in major protective mode and one hit my legs after I'd turned. Didn't snap at me, and didn't hurt me. Just let me know I wasn't welcome. It's been cooler, but those little ones are going to have to eat soon. Don't know how they're going to get out of the well. Presume the yellow ones are Toulouse crosses with a White Chinese papa. Think only one of the sitting geese is already a cross between the Toulouse and White Chinese, the other 2 are pure Toulouse. The White Chinese goose is sitting on the opposite side of the house and I hope one of the dominant white males is the papa of hers. Will put some up for sale as soon as all those that are going to hatch, do. Last year we had the 3 geese sitting on 2 nests. I sold some goslings, and cornered them in the chicken yard, and the 2nd mama promptly abandoned her nest so I ended up with no new ones.
Just taken the 2nd ciabatta loaf out the oven. Didn't add the spelt flour this time, and as the house is cooler, didn't seem to rise as much as the 1st loaf. But it's wonderful. Cut Herbie a hot slice and slathered it with butter. Yum yum.
