Weeded the garden, the tomato patch while picking tomatoes, got a whole basket full. Also started weeding the sweet potato row. Saw a post yesterday where this fellow canner made a tomato recipe, 8 large tomatoes which yielded exactly 1 quart jar of tomato soup. DH asked if I was going to make a jar of tomato soup with these ! Absolutely love these huge baskets I found at an Asian market. Have 4 sizes, they nest. The red tomatoes are in the largest one, the yellow in the smallest.
Bambi was good in milking today. Had to chase her in, but once in the lower barn she was delightful. Didn't pee or poop anywhere inside, didn't step on any of the lines, milk or air, didn't jerk against the rope, Mabel didn't pee or poop either, Starlet and Chuck came to the bell, and I shoo-ed them all out afterwards. Starlet and Chuck wandered back in a few time looking for more grain, but other than pee-ing at their feeder sometime, and the 1 lot of poop in the lower barn, it was the easiest clean-up in ages ! Plus she gave just over 1 1/2 gallons !
The biltong is coming along nicely. Can't wait for it to be finished so that I can try it. It's only 6 strips but it's a start. Need a nice fatty piece of beef silverside next methinks. Yummy.
Found a seemingly good recipe for bread tonight so think I'll start a loaf for DH seeing as I haven't been shopping in a while and he's run out of bought bread.
He brought me tea in bed this morning and made breakfast, fed all the beasties except 2 cats that didn't arrive, and all I had to do was milking. Thank you, my love.
